IRCEP on the Move: Swaziland

Steering Committee Chair, Dr. Rick Gressard, shared his most recent trip to Swaziland.

“I just returned from a visit for IRCEP to Swaziland a few weeks ago. Having been to India and Singapore as well over the last couple of years, I’ve had some time to contemplate the responses we have seen to IRCEP’s vision of promoting our profession internationally and building a global counseling community. Usually the first reaction we see, regardless where we are, is something along the lines of, “That’s exactly what we need for recognition of the counseling profession and our training program.” A little later we hear, “It would be wonderful if we could connect with other counselor training programs around the world.” Having heard these reactions for years now, I can’ t help but think IRCEP is on the right track. Although sometimes it seems that IRCEP’s progress is slow, every time we visit programs, I get reenergized. I’m always reminded that IRCEP, if we do our job well, can help create a strong, international, culturally responsive profession. Whatever it takes, achieving that goal will be worth the effort.”
